What is fiction writing?
Fiction writing is any written piece of work that does not describe real events or people. A story is considered fictional if it is not based on actual events. In other words, fiction is anything that is not true.
Types of fiction writing
There are many different types of fiction writing. There are short stories, novels, poems, essays, and screenplays. Each type of fiction writing requires its own set of skills and techniques.
1. Short stories
Short stories are generally between 1,500-10,000 words long. They are often told in first person point of view. Short stories are often published in magazines and newspapers.
2. Novels
Novels are longer than short stories. They are generally between 50,000-100,000 words long. Novels are often told in third person point of view. Novels are often published in book format.
3. Poems
Poems are shorter than novels and short stories. They are usually between 100-1,000 words long. Poems are often told in second person point of view. Poems are often published in books and journals.
4. Essays
Essays are longer than poems and novels. They are usually between 10,000-50,000 words long. Essays are often told in third or fourth person point of view. Essays are often published in academic journals.
5. Screenplays
Screenplays are similar to novels. They are usually around 60,000-80,000 words long. Screenplays are often told in third, fourth, or fifth person point of view. Screenplays are often published in movie scripts.
